From
scriptures ...
We have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
-Romans 6:4 (NRSV)

THE HAITI PROJECT

The Haiti Project for St. Damien's Hospital is an effort to collect necessary orthopedic equipment which is very scarce in Haiti.  The Haiti Project is collecting used and/or new CRUTCHES, WALKERS, CANES, WHEELCHAIRS, BRACES AND PROSTHESES.  Especially needed are pediatric sizes, but we are accepting any and all that are in clean, usable condition.  They will be sent to St. Damien's Hospital in Haiti.  This is a short turn-around time, but THE NEED IS NOW. St. Damien's Hospital is a pediatric hospital (now serving all ages) in Port au Prince which has been fully operative since the earthquake, serving hundred of emergency patients per day.

We are inviting all churches in Massachusetts to take part in the HAITI PROJECT for ST. DAMIEN'S HOSPITAL.  Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and long before the earthquake, the needs were many.  Perhaps you have already responded to those needs or to the earthquake in some way, but this project is simple:  Look in your attic, basement, garage, storage unit, etc. for the crutches, canes, walkers etc. that you meant to give to a good cause a longtime ago and do it now.  Ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers and gather them in a good place.  We'll let you know what comes next.

In 2010, we may not be able to heal the lame as Jesus and his Disciples did, but we people of faith have an opportunity to help some of the lame to walk.  Let's do it.  Call 508-583-8076 for a drop off location or futher information.
