Boards

Christian Education Board

Board of Christian Education Members are Judy Laniewski, Superintendent; Linda Enck, Assistant Superintendent; Noreen Struble, Secretary; Barbara Doran, Kellie Adams, Nancy Ogilvie, Rebecca LaForge.  The board is responsible for choosing the curriculum for Sunday School classes and approval of the general format of and support of the Christian education programs, including Sunday School, Adult Education, Vacation Bible School, Youth Groups and special projects.  The committee also coordinates special musical Christmas and Children's Day programs with the Choir Director and Sunday School Superintendent.   The committee is responsible for the oversight of the Avon Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.

Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons has the general oversight of the spiritual life of the Church, assisting and aiding the Pastor in the performance of the Pastor duties.  In cooperation with the Pastor, the Deacons have responsibilities for all worship services, making sure that there are greeters, ushers and that the sanctuary is appropriately prepared.  The Deasons are Judy Mackenzie, Brenda Brooks, Ralph Jensen, Amy Rice, Rebecca Gagne, Dave Mason, Mary White, Joe Brooks and Richard Small.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the upkeep and management of all real and personal property of the Church.  The Trustees are M. Janet Jensen, Robert Gagne, Matthew Bernasconi, Clay Rice and Robert Keene.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee recommends to the Church membership an annual budget for the Church.  The committee conducts an annual Every Member Stewardship Canvas to secure pledges adequate funds to support the annual budget.  The Memorial Committee is a sub-committee of the Finance Committee, and oversees gifts given to the Church. The committee members are Nancy Ogilvie, Treasurer, Debra Merriam, Matthew Bernasconi, Wendy Wilhelm, Beverly Williams, Bob Williams, Brian Smith, Ed Williams and Patricia Bessette.

Music Committee

The Music Committee plans for musical concerts, hymn sings and programs throughout the year.  They advise and guide the Music Director, Jennifer Hartnett and the Organist, Thomas Hoisington, concerning overall policy relating to the music of the Church.  They oversee the purchase of music, musical supplies and instruments, and are responsible for the maintenance of instruments.  The members of the committee are Michael Lawler, Laurie Kearns, Marie Pray, Jean Kopke and Brenda Levangie.

Mission Committee

The Board of Missions has 6 members plus the Benevolence Treasurer, Cindy Bernasconi and is responsible for creating and maintaining a missionary interest throughout the Church.  The members are Linda Curley, Chairperson, Marsha Cushing, Robert Ogilvie, Connie Bass, Maddy Wright and Robert Bass.  One of our mission projects is Birthday Wishes, an organization which provides birthday parties to children in local shelters.  We also donate funds to American for Christ, One Great Hour of Sharing, World Missions, Retired Ministers and Missionaries and many local organizations.

Hospitality Committee

This committee is comprised of many people from the church who are responsible for the refreshments served following Church services on Sundays.  Judy Laniewski coordinates the committee.

Nursery School

The Purpose of the Avon Nursery School as a ministry of the Avon Baptist Church is to provide our communities with a safe, loving environment in which all children may thrive and excel as they begin their educational journey.  This committee has full responsibility for conducting the business of the Avon Nursery School, including establishing policy and procedures, interviewing and hiring administrators, teachers and other employees.  The committee members are Kim Mann, Julie Farrington, Karen Keene, Mary Anne Small, Edward Williams, and Clay Rice. The treasurer is Brenda Brooks and the School Nurse is Linda Enck.
