Who
we are
The
Avon Baptist Church is a friendly, welcoming church. Our visitors often
comment on the spirit of warmth, cooperation and purpose that they feel
here. Our moderate-sized congregation is an increasingly diverse group, coming from different denominational,
ethnic and geographical backgrounds. But we are united in our love for
Jesus Christ and in our desire to follow His teachings. Families from
Avon, Brockton, Stoughton and Randolph (as well as a few towns farther
away) attend our services regularly. We are happy that we have a supportive
and pleasant relationship with St. Michael's Church - a Catholic church
whose parking lot abuts ours.
Our services are not rigidly structured. The service
is essentially a traditional one, but through its music and liturgy, reaches
out to other traditions for enrichment. Children have a time during worship
to hear a message geared to their level. We enjoy music and have a wonderful
adult choir, a children's choir, a pipe organ and soloists whose preferences
range from gospel to folk to traditional. Lay people are encouraged to
participate.
We care about missions and contribute generously
to them. There are ample opportunities for fellowship, growing in faith,
sharing, caring and giving.
